grandsons

Two weekends ago, I had Nolan for the weekend so that Andy & Kristi could celebrate their anniversary in the Smoky Mountains. Garrett came over on Saturday night for a "sleepover." They are so much fun to watch together. Garrett told me he has something even better than a brother or a sister - he has a cousin who almost looks like him!

Here you can see the morning after!

Silent Auction

Last night was the silent auction at St. Clare. They raised over $40,000! This year, each teacher was encouraged to donate something "personal" in addition to our classroom baskets (my room did a Mother's Day Basket this year.) I decided to do 4 hours of beginner's knitting lessons for 2 students. The only stipulation I had was that they be in 3rd grade or higher. I was a little worried that I wouldn't get true "beginners." My lessons went for $90 and I'll be teaching 2 sweet third grade girls. :)

This was my first attempt at a hat. I knit it out of wool for Garrett. I was pleased with the results. But, I was rather disappointed that it was too small for Garrett's head. :( It did fit Nolan; but, I am sure that by the time he grows into the jacket it matches, his head will have also grown. One consolation...with the mild winter we have had in Michigan this year, Garrett wouldn't have worn it much anyway, and I did prove to myself that I could make a hat. :)

This is the purse that inspired me to start knitting purses. I saw it in a knitting shop in Tawas and decided I had to give felting a try. I couldn't stop at just one...
